Just digging in to an episode of This American Life (first segment), which deals with an Iraq War veteran struggling to defeat his own scars of post traumatic stress disorder by joining the local Muslim Student Association.  Would love to hear your thoughts.

One of the most disturbing thoughts raised, and something I had not even considered, is of how many young Americans now first encounter Islam through the war in Iraq as soldiers under fire.  In other words, I always think of how war increases tensions in Iraq for Iraqis in regard to their views on America, but just like any conflict, we now have this tension coming into being with Americans on the ground as they struggle to dissociate Islam from the violence they face.
